"I have been working together with most of the factories for 10-15 years, some even 20 years. I have mostly been designing furniture in the better middle price level compared to Danish standard and my designs have in general had a life time at 10 15 years or none!
I am working in a typically Danish one man studio, where I do every thing myself and I follow my designs from idea to shop.
Normally my clients contact me and ask me to design something especially for them either because they have heard there is a gap/need in the market, or because they have some free capacity at the factory.
I collect the needed back-ground information (marketing information, needs and sizes etc), make rough sketches from point zero 杊undreds maybe and then choose the best 3-6 and make them as presentation drawings and show them to the managers and salespeople to get a response from both production and sale.
Sometimes I make simple prototypes as well to get a fair judgement of the idea, before the more expensive prototyping starts.
Working drawings are made 1:5 and 1:1 by hand. I never work in CAD.
Often I make brochure lay-outs and price list lay-outs as well. In that way I have full control over the process from idea to shop the way I like to work as a designer.

1976 Freelance design office with colleague. Made several designs for well known Danish
furniture manufactures like Erik Joergensen, Eilersen, and Dyrlund-Smith.
1980 Employed as town planner.
1982 Employed as furniture designer by Dyrlund-Smith a/s.
1983 Started again to work as free lance designer - on my own.
1985 Project in Ireland for Irish Export Board and Link International, Denmark.
